Analytical methods development including gas chromatography for separation of fat oxidation products and published a paper on correlation of hydroperoxide breakdown products with edible oil stability expert developed atomic absorption methods to determine trace metals in edible oils conducted a study of the anisidine test to measure oxidation in edible oils these methods are in use all over the world.
Expert conducted an extensive study on the effects of inert gas packaging on the long term storage of soybean and cottonseed salad oils.
Expert developed technologies to steam refine soybean oil. Expert developed technologies to more efficiently and in higher quality.
Expert described the first commercial trials involving the use of copper chromite hydrogenation catalysts and other plants were built in Europe.
Expert developed new technologies to prevent the formation of non hydratable phosphatides in soybean extraction plants.
Expert was a pioneer in the use of supercritical fluids for the extraction of oilseeds and as a reaction media for transforming lipids into value added products.
Expert conducted work on the interesterifcation of vegetable oils to produce trans free spread and shortening oils a number of commercial products are protypes of this research.
Expert has developed a number modified hydrogenation technologies allowing a significant reduction of trans acids and allowing food companies to meet FDA guidelines for trans fat labeling.
