Between 1997 and 2014, Expert worked for an information services and training firm focused on B2B markets with a focus on risk and compliance, finance, legal and insight. He joined this PLC when they backed his MBO of the Business Information division of Macmillan Publishers. Expert subsequently developed the digital operations of the Group before becoming Group Chief Operating Officer and a PLC board director.
In addition to his career in information publishing, Expert has been an active founder, investor and advisor, predominantly in information and technology. He is currently Chairman of a financial technology company that delivers a new pre-trade platform for derivatives trading.

In 2011 he co-founded the leading UK roadworks database. He is also an early-stage investor in Antix, an auto-editing video application.
