As such, Expert has been the go-to person for answers to most any diesel engine, electronic system, fuel and emissions systems questions.
Expert is a capable manual mill and lathe operator. Having used Bridgeport mills and Sharp lathes to create or modify various parts, he is a job type machinist. One-off pieces and specialty tooling make up most of his work.
He has also programmed and operated a Rottler SG80A valve seat and Guide machine, a Serdi manual valve seat and guide machine, as well as Sioux valve and seat equipment. He has excellent abilities to take precise measurements down to the ten-thousandths inch range. Using inside and outside micrometers, bore gauges of dial, digital or vernier type, all types of calipers, rulers and other precise measuring devices is second nature. He has designed and made special tools, plus has tooling designs to submit for patents.
Throughout his life, he has worked with many types of metals to make tooling, machinery, panels, brackets and various specialty items. He is a capable ARC, MIG and Brazing welder. He has worked with a wide range of materials spanning from sheet metal and pipe, to hard-facing, to cast iron welding. His fabrication skills have helped in engineering specialty machines, building machinery, incorporating drivetrains into a package and even building amateur race cars.
Expert is skilled in many types of electronics repair. Focusing primarily on audio equipment and vintage stereo restoration. His skills with circuit board testing and repair has allowed him to repair many types of electronics; including Engine Control Modules, Instrument Panels, Driver Modules and PLC Modules. He has great soldering skills. He has worked with basic irons, temperature controlled stations, rework stations and flow ovens.
