He has worked in data mining field for more than 14 years. During this period he implemented projects related analysis of time series in energy prediction domain, route planing in virtual real world environments, detection of attacks in computer networks, and recently, click fraud detection and prevention system in Internet advertising. As a result of this latest project he has submitted a patent application, and also initiated a new company.

In the same period he taught a graduate course on data mining, and published one of the first textbooks in the field which is used in more than 100 universities all over the world. He published more than 200 articles in peer-reviewed journals, conferences, and books.
