His Computer aided optical design experience includes some work with OPTICAD and considerable work with ZEMAX for
most of his optical designs. He is also a member in OSA and SPIE.
With respect to R&D, Expert is a Certified Management Consultant specializing in R&D with strong emphasis on
competitive applications of optical technology. He can provide an objective assessment of markets or technologies from which
to develop appropriate strategies to help develop competitive products, analyze and research concepts relative to intellectual
property, determine technical and economic product feasibility relative to market needs, investigate applications to new
markets, plan for accelerated R&D, functional proof of concepts before designing and production prototype, help determine
design parameters needed for market, and technical R&D coaching for clients that have internal design, fabrication, assembly,
and integration capabilities. His specialized consulting includes optical technology, medical devices, and related product
development. Prior to 38 years of consulting for over 150 companies he worked for Northrop, CalComp, Ford Aerospace, and
Abbott Labs. His optical design, mechanical design, system design, knowledge of fabrication processes, and management
capabilities make him very versatile in optical system design including lighting, sensors, projection, imaging, fluorescence, etc.
He also is in charge of a technology special interest group within The Institute of Management Consultants.
