Control Systems, Modeling, and Simulation
ID: 719608
New York, USA
Expert has expertise in classical and modern control theory, process control, system optimization, mathematical modeling, computer simulation, and system diagnostics. A few of the areas he has applied this knowledge include flight control, power industry, and machine tools. His research efforts included development of pointing-acquisition-tracking components of laser-based space communication systems, process control and optimization system for a power plant boiler, diagnostic system for power generators, and adaptive motion control systems.
Expert is adept in applying statistical techniques for mathematical modeling of various processes. He has used models for process analysis, on-line diagnostics, and optimization. He has experience in development of computer-based process control systems.
Expert has employed statistics for developing and validating mathematical models and model-based procedures. This includes applications of methods used for regression analysis, pattern recognition, cluster analysis, trend analysis, diagnostics, prediction, estimation, opinion surveys.
Expert is familiar with applications of linear, non-linear (gradient and search), and dynamic programming for the solution of various problem in control, management, planning, and parameter estimation. He has used these methods for on-line optimization of boilers at a power plant, self-turning of high precision position control system, and design optimization.
Expert has expertise in development of mathematical models of various dynamic processes, and applications of computer graphics and animated schematics. He has developed a simulator for demonstration of principle of operation and control of satellite-based laser communication systems for the U.S. Air Force, and a simulator intended for boiler control operators.
Expert has experience in developing methods and models to perform on-line assessment of the technical status of a system, intended for detection of abnormal performance, interpretation of abnormalities as failures of a particular type, and failure prediction. He has used these methods for on-line diagnostics of flight actuators and power generators. He is the author of the diagnostic approach utilizing the "history of abuse" of hardware.
He served as a consultant to Eastman Kodak, Milton Roy Company, Universal Instruments Corporation, Corning Glass Works, General Electric Company, New York State Electric and Gas Corporation, and, currently, the Air Force Research Laboratory at Rome, New York.
