Request Expert

Expert has over 25 years experience in academic, hospital-based, and commercial diagnostic microbiology. He has held laboratory director positions in university and private hospital settings, and as the national director of microbiology in industry. Expert has expertise in general clinical microbiology, with special interests in fastidious and infrequently encountered bacterial pathogens. His laboratory was one of the first to isolate and characterize the agent ultimately recognized to be the cause of cat scratch disease (Bartonella henselae). Publications in the field and textbook contributions focus, in addition to these interests, on antimicrobial susceptibility testing and laboratory diagnostic methods.

Expert is Board certified by the American Board of Medical Microbiology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology. He is on the editorial board of the Journal of Clinical Microbiology, and has served as a working group member and advisor of the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute.
