Expert has over ten years of experience working in immunology. During this time, he has worked extensively with the delivery of cytokines in association with experimental vaccine models as well as immunological and molecular methods for the detection of cytokines in in vitro and in vivo samples. Much of his recent efforts involve the use of multiple cytokine (analyte) profiling of complex human samples.
Expert has over ten years of experience with ELISA technology. This experience includes the use of ELISA for detection of viral and bacterial specific antibody induction, viral antigen detection and cytokine analysis. In addition, Expert has designed ELISA techniques for analysis of vaccine antigen content (potency assay), human viral exposure studies (epidemiology) and clonal and monoclonal antibody screening.
He has participated in experimental molecular vaccine design and construction for the development of multi-epitope synthetic nucliec acid vaccines. In addition, Expert has used synthetic epitope peptides for use in cellular immunology measures such as T-cell proliferation studies.
Expert has been involved in many aspects of systemic and mucosal immunology related to viral infection and vaccine design. He has more than eight years of immunology experience related to viral pathogenesis, vaccine design and detection of pathogen specific immunity. He has performed immune analysis of both systemic and mucosal humoral immune responses. This experience includes screening of sera and mucosal secretions by ELISA as well as Western blotting for detection of IgG, IgM and IgA (monomeric as well as secretory). He has published several articles that address mucosal immune induction responses and vaccination.
Expert received his Ph.D. in the medical sciences with an emphasis in medical and molecular microbiology. Since 1993, he has worked in various fields of microbiology, including viral immunology, zoonotic bacterial diseases, vaccine development and molecular epidemiology of viral disease.
Expert has performed work related to molecular biology since 1986. His contributions include molecular vector design, cloning, sequencing, PCR and rtPCR, hybridization studies, DNA vaccine design and construction, microarray technologies and proteomic analysis of complex samples.
For the past four years, Expert has directed a laboratory for the design and implementation of serological analysis for exposure to viral agents. This work includes cloning, expression and purification of recombinant antigen for use in ELISA and other immunoassays for the detection of viral-specific humoral responses. Expert performs serological testing on clinical samples for infectious disease assessment.
Expert has ten years of experience in several different viral immunology laboratories, which includes analysis of molecular and immunological aspects of viral infection in humans as well as model systems. Expert has worked in the field of virology for many years and has experience in the diagnosis of viral diseases.
Expert has experience in the development, construction and testing of novel vaccines for veterinary use. His research related to Bartonella henselae was in coordination with the marketing of a vaccine for domestic cats to prevent the "carrier" state of this bacteria and subsequent transmission to humans. He also worked on novel mucosal and molecular DNA vaccines for Bartonella.
Expert has performed research on antigen identification, purification and characterization. He developed novel approaches to synthetic antigen production against Herpes viruses using molecular vaccines as well as production of antigen in the form of viral like particles from human papillomavirus. He has experience with DNA vector expression, protein expression, and purification in bacterial systems as well as baculovirus.
Expert has over 10 years of experience in the design, development, and implementation of immune assays to recognize antigen-antibody interactions.
Expert has participated in projects for the development and testing of bacterial vaccines (see his paragraph on animal vaccines). He has performed experimental vaccine studies using bacterial vectors as well as novel DNA vaccines for bacterial agents.
