After earning his Ph.D., he spent one year at the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute in Oslo as a research fellow and two years with GeoSyntec Consultants in Huntington Beach, California as a geotechnical engineer. He joined the a prestigious university in Kentucky in 2002, where he currently holds the rank of Expert. He also spent the 2014-2015 academic year at the American University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates as a Visiting Associate Expert.
His research interests include engineering geophysics, geotechnical earthquake engineering, soil dynamics, vibrations and humanitarian engineering.
Expert teaches an undergraduate course in soil mechanics and graduate courses in landfill design and geotechnical earthquake engineering. He is a Registered Geophysicist in California and a licensed Professional Engineer in California, Kentucky, Texas, Florida, South Dakota, North Carolina and Colorado.
