Chemistry
ID: 735044
Pennsylvania, USA
Expert obtained his M.Sc in technology of petrochemicals. He worked for a few years in a Houston-based company, which he co-founded, involved in sensitive measurements in the petroleum industry. He developed a technology to transform used tires into (crude-like) fuel and another one to measure multi-phase flows (of crude oil).
Recently, Expert developed a novel technology allowing for manufacturing nano/microcapsules with several chemical moieties on the external surface -- via interfacial polymerization for capsules' external surface control. Main applications of the technology: (i) ensuring safe transport of encapsulated drugs, and (ii) in the ultra-sensitive detection and removal of pathogens.
Expert conducted his doctoral work in the total synthesis of enantiomerically pure monosaccharides from furans (Achmatowicz reaction). He was was a postdoctoral fellow in the lab of a Nobel laureate Sir. Derek Barton (Imperial College, London). He published papers on synthesis of pheromones (disparlure) from monosaccharides, modification of sugars, modification of polymers, and related areas.
When working at Value Recovery, Expert developed a method to transform various wastes from chemical plants into saleable products. It takes advantage of PTC. The method is patented and has been described in several papers.
When working at Value Recovery, Expert developed a method to transform methyl bromide, one of the most effective ozone depleters, into benign salt. The method has been commercialized in several states.
Expert has authored or co-authored almost four dozen academic publications. He holds close to 20 patents, with several pending applications and a few patents in a pipeline. Four years ago, he published a seminal paper offering a novel strategy of connecting and disconnecting molecules. He is a reviewer for several journals.
A client wanted to develop chemistry to his wonderful idea of manufacturing gelatine-based disposable tooth-brushes, which are equipped with hundreds of whistles. The product was expected to be chewed and to disintegrate in mouth in about 60 seconds. Expert delivered. The technology is patented and in the process of commercializing.
