Expert has specified non-metallic, steel and alloy tanks for the storage of bulk liquids in volumes less than 100 gallons to 25,000 gallons in a variety of configurations including dished and flat bottoms, and featuring internal and external heat transfer surfaces. He has specified reaction vessels with pressure ratings from full vacuum to 40 psig, with internal and external heat transfer areas.
Expert has specified the mixing systems for storage tanks using circulation loops, eductors, and top entering mixers. He applied composite shaft designs for top entering mixers in tall tanks. He has also specified mixers for batch and blending vessels to promote solids suspension, liquid blending, and gas dispersion.

Expert has specified and applied instrumentation for the continuous and point level measurement of liquid and solids; temperature and pressure measurement; and mass and volumetric flow of liquids, solids, and gases. He has specified devices for installation in hazardous environments using explosion proof and intrinsically safe design, and X, Y, or Z purging to meet the area classification. He has successfully applied instruments in non-standard applications (for example: a nuclear device for liquid density measurement used on a powdered product) to provide reliable processing information economically and with minimal maintenance. Expert has designed control systems for the continuous proportional addition of multiple raw materials. He has designed control systems for various batch processes and for standalone processes such as product filtration and the pneumatic unloading of solids. He has written the sequence of operation instructions for the automation of these and other processes.

He has an intimate understanding of the interrelations of the various engineering efforts that must be coordinated to meet the time and budget goals of a successful project. He has worked on all parts of capital projects, including process design, estimating, equipment selection (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation), controls design, and purchasing. He has written contractor bid requests, selected the contractors, and supervised the construction on projects. He has used design build techniques for fast track projects.
