Chemical Analysis, Polymer Characteristics
ID: 108339
New Jersey, USA
As head of a large analytical department, Expert has been involved with all the modern methods of chemical and materials analyses. He has documented these efforts in a book about chemical analysis. Expert now provides his clients with guidance in all the key fields of chemical analysis and materials characterization, identifying the best, most efficient, less costly approach to problem solving. Typical problems have involved trace analysis of chemicals in water, soil, and air (EPA); analysis of trace contaminants in foods (FDA) and cosmetic products; surface chemical analysis (adhesion, coatings, paints); and structure/properties of polymers and chemicals. Some of the techniques he has employed include GC, GC-MS, AA, ICAP-MS, NMR, SEM, TEM, XPS, DSC, TGA, X-ray and physical testing.
Expert and his group at AlliedSignal were considered world experts in the areas of nylon characterization and structure. This work has been documented in a recent book about nylon characterization. His expertise includes chemical, oligomer, molecular weight, crystallinity, orientation, copolymer, and blend analysis. This background is necessary in understanding the properties, processing, end-use behavior, and aging of nylons--their copolymers and their blends.
Expert has worked with the specialty film business of AlliedSignal for over 30 years. Much of this work has been in support of AS to develop new products, solve production problems, solve technical service problems, and work with customers to help develop their special product needs. In addition to these efforts, Expert has been inventor and co-inventor of a series of important barrier-type polymer films with paper-like tear properties. He has also been co-inventor of several new high-oxygen barrier films. His expertise includes an understanding of the molecular structure, structure/property relationships, and extrusion and co-extrusions of barrier-type materials.
