NUCLEAR MAGNETIC RESONANCE SPECTROSCOPY. Expert has been extensively involved in the development of NMR experiments and in the application of multinuclear NMR methods to a range of problems in chemistry and biochemistry. He teaches graduate-level courses on state-of-the-art NMR spectroscopy, including multidimensional NMR spectroscopy.
ANALYTICAL CHEMISTRY; CHEMICAL ANALYSIS. Expert teaches courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels in modern methods of chemical analysis. In his own research, he applies a variety of the methods of modern analytical chemistry. These include NMR spectroscopy, HPLC, potentiometry, and pH titrations.
MERCURY CHEMISTRY; ORGANOMERCURY COMPOUNDS. Expert has expertise in mercury chemistry and organomercury compounds. He has conducted research in the chemistry involved in mercury (II) and organomercury toxicology.
HEAVY METAL CHEMISTRY. Expert has had experience with the chemistry of mercury, zinc, lead, and cadmium. In particular, he is knowledgeable of the solution chemistry of these elements, their coordination chemistry, and their reactions with biological molecules.
pH CHEMISTRY. Expert has had extensive experience with the measurement of pH by potentiometric and other methods. This has included work with the measurement of acid dissociation constants by pH titration methods.
SOLUTION CHEMISTRY. Expert has conducted extensive research in the solution chemistry of metal ions, metal complexes, organic molecules, and biological molecules. This has included characterization of kinetics and equilibria, as well as speciation studies.
TITRATION ANALYSIS. Expert makes extensive use of titrations in his research. These include acid-base, complexation, and redox titrations. He also teaches titration methods in courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
