Bioremediation, Oil Clean-Up
ID: 711120
New York, USA
NANOTECHNOLOGY Expert is a leader in the field of thermoplastic nanotechnology and headed up the effort to develop the world's first mass-producible, low cost organoclay and nanoparticle dispersion platform for use in plastics.
HYDROCARBON-CONTAMINATED SOIL REMEDIATION; SOIL BIOREMEDIATION. Expert has conducted extensive interdisciplinary research into optimizing bioremediation of hydrocarbon-contaminated soil. He has formulated oleophillic fertilizers as well as developed mechanical processes and analytical procedures designed to maximize clean-up results. He did his graduate work with the founding father of the discipline: Richard Bartha of Rutgers University. He has co-authored three publications on hydrocarbon-contaminated bioremediation. He was the first author in the scientific literature to have described soil agglomeration induced by hydrocarbon-degrading microorganisms as a new rate limiting factor in oil clean-up processes.
OIL SPILL RESPONSE. Expert has developed and tested products that were used during clean-up of the Valdez oil spill as well as other oil spill sites.
METAL COATING CORROSION; METAL COATING MATERIAL. Expert has successfully developed metal coating procedures and formulations for use in extreme environments. His consulting work in this area includes the development of a coating for carbon steel used in baghouse manufacturing that resists concentrated HCl and H2SO4 and temperatures in excess of 600F. He has also developed coatings for aluminum that resist up to 4800 hours of salt immersion.
HYDROPHOBIC CHEMICAL SOLUTION; HYDROPHOBIC FILM. Expert successfully developed an encapsulant for ZnCl2 soldering flux that inhibits moisture absorption and is compatible with the wetting and burn-off requirements of the flux with its end use in aluminum soldering and brazing.
BIOLOGICAL PESTICIDE. Expert has carried out extensive research into the use of chitinases as a safe, non-toxic alternative to synthetic biocides and fungicides used to eliminate fungi, nematode eggs, and insects that act as plant pathogens. Expert has an issued patent for this technology.
FERTILIZER APPLICATION TECHNOLOGY; FERTILIZER ENVIRONMENTAL EFFECT. As a Texaco Foundation Fellow, Expert conducted contract R&D on oleophillic fertilizer, analytical and quantitative soil chemistry analysis, and biochemical and microbiological assays associated with hydrocarbon contaminated soil research.
Expert has gone to client sites to consult on issues related to coating applications and various process enhancements. Expert has assisted clients in writing applying for patents, and has represented the clients in negotiations. Expert is a formally trained negotiator. Expert has developed architectures and systems for business incubators.
