AUTOMOTIVE ERGONOMICS. Expert has conducted in-depth research concerning the ergonomic design of automotive interiors. He has done this with particular regard to the positioning of driver controls to meet the needs of the driver population. His work in this area has included research to define the positioning and posture of drivers and the development of improved driver workspace models. Expert has expertise in automotive human factors engineering.
ANTHROPOMETRY. Expert has conducted extensive research in anthropometry. This has involved measuring the human body and then applying the measurements for the U.S. population to product design. His work in this regard has utilized a variety of state-of-the-art anthropometric measurement techniques. These include automated anthropometers with computer readout and DLT stereophotogrammetry. These methodologies have been used in three major studies concerned with the sizes and shapes of children and children's heads with regard to design of consumer products. He has also used them to collect three-dimensional data describing the seated anthropometry of the automotive driver and is now involved in the application of these data to the design of more human-like crash dummies.
