Expert's working career has involved all aspects of gasket and material development, including testing and analysis with a particular emphasis on internal combustion cylinder head gaskets including automotive and heavy duty diesel engines. Through this exposure to testing, product development and analysis, he has developed a comprehensive understanding of the designs and constructions used by the sealing industry with heavy emphasis on combustion seal design. His knowledge and understanding of all the various cylinder head gasket technologies and the potential failure mode of each has provided him a broad background which can be used to analyze all of the various types of applications, cylinder head gaskets as well as general gasket issues.

One of Expert's significant responsibilities at one gasket manufacturer was to lead the engineering effort to eliminate the use of asbestos in the entire product line. This required a team approach working with material and design engineers as well a materials suppliers. This goal was reached through the development of substitute materials and design changes. He lead the engine testing programs in this effort as well.

Expert's has assumed responsibility for the operation of an engine testing facility to evaluate sealing performance, which has afforded him exposure to many gasket failures and issues related to failures. His responsibility for handling warranty issues related to gasket problems has deepened this exposure as well.

As part of the product development process, new processes are often requiring new methods of manufacture. Expert has worked closely with manufacturing and tooling departments to establish these new processes.

He worked with a large manufacturer of diesel engines to identify the root causes for engine oil leaks occuring at the end of the assembly line. As an independent expert, he could impartially determine if the leaks were as a result of design or assemble causes. Based on his gasketing experience, he was able to research historical information for an attorney on an asbestos liability case.A major user of diesel engines for refrigeration units was experiencing premature gasket failures. His analysis of the failures resulted in the client be able to pressure the engine manufacturer to redesign the cylinder head gasket.He provided technical expertize to an attorney working on behalf of a major automobile manufacturer to analyze data regarding materials used in a class of failed gaskets.
