Expert has 20 years of architectural experience working on a wide range of building types. These include art projects, underground railways, masterplanning of large scale retail and hotel projects through to bespoke residential projects, refurbishment and fit-out works in the UK, Europe the Middle East and China.

His method of working is dependent on the careful analysis of his brief resulting in a thorough appreciation of the potential of any given site and project. This methodology allows the development of a strategic approach to design often resulting in innovative, original, yet practical design solutions. Of course imagination plays an important role here. Achieving elegant aesthetic and technical beauty in architecture is a strong motivating factor in his work. He has led renowned consultant teams on high profile projects and has enjoyed success as a participant in international architectural design competitions.

Currently Expert runs his own architectural practice working on a range of building types. The practice specialises in leisure and hotel and interior design, and has developed considerable expertise in the intervention of contemporary architecture in heritage situations. The practice has a long-running dedication to the exploration of experimental architecture and construction technology.

Expert has taught and lectured about Architecture at a number of leading universities in the UK and Australia. This experience has given him the ability to assess a design or construction problem from a global perspective, quickly progressing to an incisive interrogation of the key issues. He does this with the view of helping to move the project forward or otherwise resolving the matter at hand.

The application of this methodology enabled the development of the flatpack school house - an earthquake-safe, efficient yet inexpensive building for developing rural communities that can be built virtually anywhere within the tropics. He used the same process to analyse a pipework replacement proposals for a large London residential building. That analysis became the foundation for legal proceedings in the subsequent dispute between the landlord and residents.

The application of Expert's analytical and design skills is equally valid from the masterplan to the smallest construction detail. It is for this reason that his practice is consulted by larger architectural firms that do not have the necessary expertise, as well as international manufacturers, that require incisive analysis, and a creative flair to help move their project forward.

In 2014 he was commissioned by Laufen, a Swiss manufacturer of sanitaryware, to analyse and compare building regulations in Australia, the UK and USA, pertaining to accessible washroom design. This paper went on to form the backbone of Laufen's technical brochure. A further commission resulted in developing a number of model washroom designs that set new aesthetic standards taking accessible washroom design beyond simple compliance with regulations. This work now forms the basis of Laufen's Continuing professional Development (CPD) technical seminar for the UK. The model washrooms will be built in various countries as a showcase for Laufen's products.As a consultant to the Dorset House Tenants Association (DHTA) he advised on the strategic preparation of their case at the Leasehold Valuation Tribunal (LVT where several million dollars in service charges were being disputed. He advised the DHTA on planning and development control issues, listed building consent processes and issues relating to the installation of pipework, electrical work and external refurbishment work to a listed building. He gave evidence at the LVT in relation to the case in April 2010.His company was retained by a large UK firm of Architects as specialist hotel concept and masterplan designers for a multi billion dollar development on Cape Verde off the west coast of Africa. The brief included simultaneously running a design team within the executive architect's office, and a team in his own practice Employer. The teams developed separate scheme proposals which were presented to the client in direct competition with each other. Expert was responsible for the design team within his own office who won the competition. The proposals were worked-up by the executive architect with input from Expert's team. The proposals won government development approval in Cape Verde in late 2007 Expert was consulted by a German chemical company in 2014 to advise them on current and emerging technical and design trends in glazing products and systems. This work also encompassed some assessment of current and emerging regulation that might impact upon the subject of interest.

The consultation formed a basis to better understand potential opportunities for the creation of products out of the company's blue sky research programme.Working with various charities he conceived and designed a flatpack schoolhouse for use in rural areas anywhere within the tropics. The building is earthquake safe and carbon negative as well as being fully recyclable. It will take around ten percent of the time to build, and will cost less than a traditional school building in rural Africa. The building can accommodates up to 60 children and is designed to be manufactured and built by local people using locally available materials. Expert has been leading the research team for two years and this process is still ongoing. This has resulted in the construction of full scale structural prototypes at the University of Nottingham. It is hoped that once trials are concluded three hundred of the flatpack school houses will be built in Uganda, Tanzania and South Africa within two years.
