Expert is board certified in Anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology. He received his medical degree from Duke University Medical Center and completed his surgical and anesthesiology resident training and fellowship training in clinical pharmacology while at Duke. He later obtained an MBA in Management of Health Sciences while at Employer. He is currently a Professor of Anesthesiology and a Consultant, Department of Anesthesiology at his affiliated hospital. He is also a Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology at University of Arizona.
Expert has participated in original clinical trials in a number of anesthesia related areas for new drug development. He has served as chair or a member of a number of major pharmaceutical company medical advisory boards related to new drug products and clinical practices. He is very active in medical educational activities providing lectures 3-5 times per month around the US and world in over a dozen areas of practice expertise.
His research interests include clinical pharmacology and drug development, cardiovascular physiology and pharmacology and stress responses, narcotic pharmacology and postoperative pain control, postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV), Granisetron for Outpatient Prevention of PONV, postoperative Ileus, myocardial ischemia, tachycardia and hypertension, total Intravenous Anesthesia (TIVA) and computer controlled anesthesia, herbals and dietary supplements. He is familiar with the cost effectiveness and efficiency performance studies, evidence-based medicine and clinical study design, temperature management, managed care techniques & clinical pathways, activity-based costing (ABC) for Healthcare organizational management, cost-volume-productivity (CVP) projections in healthcare planning, and physician leadership.
Expert has written numerous peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, editorials, abstracts, and letters.
