Expert Details
All Refinery Catalytic Units; Reforming (Fixed Bed and CCR); Isomerization; Hydrogenation; and FCC
ID: 735043
Florida, USA
As the head of global business development for this critical component of their business, Expert was tasked with maintaining constant contact with the catalyst manufacturers and the end users alike.
Any change in the catalyst by the manufacturers -- constituent components, support, shape, size, metals and promoters, and other amendments -- or changes in usage patterns by the end user, would directly impact their core business.
Expert has worked with literally every petroleum refining company and most of the petrochemical plants using catalytic processes in North America. He has also worked with hundreds of petroleum refining and petrochemical processing operations across Europe, the mid-East, Africa, Asia, Australia and South America. Examples include: Aramco, BP, Celanese, Chevron, Citgo, Eastman, ExxonMobil, Hess, Huntsman, KNPC, Lyondell, Marathon, PDVSA, Pemex, Petrobras, Petro Canada, Phillips 66, Shell, Sunoco, Suncor, Texaco, Total, Valero, and others.
Expert has more than 30 years' experience working directly with the major catalyst manufacturers: Albemarle, BASF (Engelhard), Criterion (Cytec), Haldor Topsoe, Johnson Matthey, UOP/Honeywell, WR Grace (ART), and others.
Expert is experienced with heterogeneous catalysts (alumina, zeolite, carbon substrates, and others), as well as homogenous catalysts.
Expert has worked closely with the catalyst R&D groups at ART, Chevron, Criterion, ExxonMobil, Phillips 66, and others, on catalyst development projects. He has consulted on projects involving HDS catalysts, catalytic reforming (fixed bed units and continuous cyclical regeneration units), hydrogenation, isomerization, and others.
Expert was a special consultant to BP as part of the investigation into the March 15, 2005, explosion in the isomerization unit (a fixed bed catalyst unit) at their Texas City refinery, which killed 15 people.
Expert has given presentations on catalysts to the AIChE, the AFPM, and the Colorado School of Mines. He has published articles on catalyst in Oil & Gas Journal & Hydrocarbon Processing, and contributed chapters to books on reforming catalyst technology. He also collaborated with the History channel in the production of a 20-minute segment on spent petroleum catalyst recovery. The collaboration has been repeatedly broadcast worldwide.
Expert has undertaken consulting work in all areas of catalyst; petroleum, petrochemical (precious metals & base metals, heterogeneous and homogeneous); nitric gauze catalyst; mobile and stationary source abatement; and related fields. Expert also consults on:
• Conflict minerals and smuggling;
• Precious metals banking, trading, and financing; and
• Developing cross-discipline business development programs, including the petroleum and petrochemical sectors, mining, nuclear, and other fields.
