From 1970 to 1973 Expert worked for a multiple British Leyland and Rolls Royce
dealership in Sussex.
In 1973 he worked for an engineering company first as a workshop manager, and then as a
director until 1988.
Since 1978 Expert has acted as a consultant in a number of cases involving road
traffic accidents and has attended court as an Expert Witness.
He is a member of the Society of Expert Witnesses.
He is a member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists, holds the gold certificate for
driving with RoSPA, is a senior observer and undertakes assessing associate candidates
for the RoSPA advanced driving programme. In 2001 he was appointed for two years
as Chief Training Assessor with responsibility for the Car Section of the group.
He joined the firm of E. J. Allen & Associates in (Undisclosed) as a Litigation Engineer.
In (Undisclosed) he became an independent consulting engineer.
In (Undisclosed) he was nominated for, and subsequently won, the Collacott Prize from the Institution of Diagnostic Engineers for outstanding contribution to the field of Diagnostic Engineering. In (Undisclosed) and (Undisclosed) he was again awarded the Collacott Prize.
