Expert has worked extensively in supporting efforts to combat entry of counterfeit electronic components into distributor supply chains, including communication of awareness of the broad scope and damaging effects of counterfeit components in high-reliability systems, and helping clients with product inspection methods to identify counterfeits utilizing IDEA Standard 1010.

During employment with Harris Semiconductor and Intersil Corp., as Senior Scientist and Laboratory Manager, Expert developed and managed supplier relationships, including evaluating, selecting, and specifying silicon wafers, process chemicals and gases, and package piece part materials for semiconductor device fabrication. He encouraged suppliers to adopt and employ statistical process control methods, enabling raw materials to be received on the strength of control chart data demonstrating that successive lots of raw material were sourced from statistically-controlled manufacturing processes, thereby reducing the need and costs of incoming quality inspection. During consulting activities with Vacuum Energy, Inc., and Active Materials, LLC, he did the reverse of the above, encouraging and helping these emerging companies manufacturing gas getter products to adopt and employ statistical methods so that their products could be delivered to customers from statistically controlled manufacturing processes. |
