He obtained a Chemistry degree at the Universitat de les Illes Balears (Spain) and did his PhD in Organic Chemistry working in the field of Molecular Recognition. In 2000 he joined the group of Prof. Chris Hunter at the University of Sheffield (UK) as a postdoctoral research associate and focused his research on the synthesis of molecular knots. In 2002 he moved to the Employer to work in Calorimetry and Thermal Risk Assessment and since 2004 he is the Head of the Polymorphism and Calorimetry Unit at the same university. He founded the biotech company Circe Crystal Engineering in 2012 and became its Scientific Director. His research interests include the study of intermolecular interactions by means of microcalorimetry, the polymorphism of organic compounds and the pharmaceutical cocrystals. He has supervised four MSc Thesis, four PhD. Thesis and published over 100 research papers and patents. Today he is the Head of the Polymorphism and Calorimetry Unit (Scientific and Technological Centers of the Employer) with more than 15 years of experience in the field of polymorphism of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients.
