GLAZE DEVELOPMENT. Expert is actively engaged in developing new state-of-the-art glazes for various whiteware (sanitary ware, tile, dinnerware, etc.). Primarily, this work involves developing leadless glazes to replace lead-containing glazes. These glazes are compatible with current production equipment and yield equivalent visual properties.
CERAMIC PIGMENTS. Expert has many years experience in the development of ceramic pigments, and is one of only three or four experts world-wide. He has advanced the state-of-the-art in several ceramic pigment categories. In addition, he has consulted with several of the manufacturers of ceramic pigments, as well as a number of users of these products, assisting them with selection and use.
CERAMIC PROPERTIES AND DATA; CERAMIC CORROSION. For most of his career, Expert has been concerned with the relationship between the composition and the properties of ceramic materials. Thus, he has extensive experience in the measurement and interpretation of data relevant to ceramic materials and products. Measurements include color, corrosion resistance, X-ray diffraction (particularly powder diffraction techniques), thermal analysis, and particle size. He is involved in the development and management of the ASTM Standards applicable to ceramic products.
WHITEWARES AND RELATED CERAMICS; STONEWARE; ELECTRICAL CERAMIC. Expert has experience in the development of improved products, and in the elimination of production defects in whiteware products such as stoneware, tile, porcelains (refractory, electrical, chemical, etc.), brick, chinaware, earthenware, sanitary ware, glass, and electrical ceramics.
COLOR MEASUREMENT ON GLASS AND CERAMIC MATERIALS. Expert is proficient in color measurement on glass and ceramic materials, and the relationship between material composition and the color obtained. His company, Expert Associates, performs color measurements on a fee basis.
