Expert teaches specialized courses that encompass many aspects of gear design and gear geometry. This knowledge covers annular, bull, helical, planetary, propulsion, reduction, ring, spur, step-up, and transmission gears. He also has expertise in backlash, rack and pinion, and cycloidal and involute gear teeth. He has access to numerous computer programs for the analysis of gear geometry, load distribution, dynamic analysis, and stress analysis.
Expert has taught courses in signal processing and is familiar with the operation of many spectrum analyzers. (OSU currently has 12 analyzers.) Most applications in his experience relate to rotating machinery.
Expert has taught numerous university and industry courses in machinery vibration. He specializes in vibration measurements and signal processing.
Expert has worked with many torsional vibration measurement systems including torsional accelerometers, demodulated gear teeth, and laser measurements. He has done much research into the measurement of gear transmission error.
Expert has spent ten years doing belt related research projects in belt materials, vibrations, CVT drives, temperature, and fatigue. He is in contact with the leaders in the industry.
Expert regularly teaches courses on this topic and applies the methodologies in research projects.
