Expert Details
Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and High-Technology Light Sources, Turnkey Operations, etc.
ID: 717532
New York, USA
While Expert's experience remains in surface mount technology, he has become intimate with new sources of high technology lighting components, many of which demand SMT in order to take advantage of lower size-power profiles, as well as higher unit production volumes. This technology, brought about by the need to change from incandescent and fluorescent to more exotic light-generating (but energy-conserving and failure-proof) light sources, include Light Emitting Diodes (LED), electroluminescence (or flat panel lighting), photophosphorescence, fiber optics (light piping), and others. Applications in which Expert has been intimate are signage, displays, lighting and emergency lighting systems and the associated energy reduction, manufacturing cost savings, reduction of end-user prices and of maintenance costs over the product life.
After analysis, Expert replaces incandescent and other inefficient lighting with efficient florescent, LED, electroluminescent and other high-tech lighting.
Expert conducts surveys of industrial and other facilities for replacement of HVAC, motor control, lighting, etc. with systems requiring lower energy cost and maintenance.
While involved with various high technology categories such as surface mount technology, components, equipment and processes, and new lighting devices, much of Expert's career has been spent in the area of transition from the old technology to the new. Changing direction is often difficult for everyone associated with it: the company, its sales forces, inside personnel, channels of distribution, and of course, the customer. Much of Expert's consultative activity has been turnkey: researching the technology to be utilized, developing the product, testing it, manufacturing the product, retraining inside and outside sales and marketing, distribution and finally, getting the product to market. Expert is a turn-around and start-up specialist.

Career Accomplishments
Associations / Societies |
---|
Expert is a life member of the International Society for Hybrid Microelectronics. He is a member of the Speakers Bureau for Surface Mount Technology. |
Publications and Patents Summary |
---|
He was editor for SMT - PCNetwork Magazine. He has been a feature author for both Business Marketing and Surface Mount Technology. |
Additional Experience
Vendor Selection |
---|
Expert has experience locating vendors of: * Contract assemblers (SMT and through hole) * Surface mount components (passives), LEDs * Electroluminescence lighting systems * MIS hardware and software. |
Marketing Experience |
---|
Expert has significant expertise in assisting clients with marketing management and sales operations. He has created marketing programs for clients that resulted in significant market penetration, new markets, new products and their design, development, and implementation. He helped bring a firm from 2.5 million per annum with a no-growth product to 4.5 million with a new product and maximized existing market penetration. The effort, which took less than three years, cost the company less than 30% of its total profit with no impact on reserves for expansion or development. Lead generation programs were designed, developed, and implemented during this period, which resulted in significant sales volume growth. |
Other Relevant Experience |
---|
He was a pioneer in the implementation of packaging SMT components for surface mounting in the U.S. |
