CORROSION RESISTANT ALLOYS; CORROSION RESISTANCE; CAST IRON; TITANIUM CORROSION. Expert has had over 30 years of experience in the manufacture and use of corrosion-resistant castings. As a result, he is very familiar with foundry practices such as molding, melting, and heat treatment of various corrosion-resistant alloys. He also has a good understanding as to what it takes to produce optimum quality in these alloys. He has been directly involved in recommending cast alloys for all types of corrosive services. These materials include iron, steels, stainless steels, nickel base, titanium, and zirconium. Besides material recommendations, he has conducted numerous investigations of corrosion-related failures of fluid handling equipment.
ASTM SPECIFICATIONS. Expert is an active participant in ASTM matters. In particular, he serves as co-sponsor of specifications A494 and A744, which pertain to corrosion-resistant cast alloys. He is also a member of the iron alloy and reactive alloy committees.
AUSTENITIC STAINLESS STEEL. Expert has extensive experience in the manufacture of cast austenitic stainless steels and other corrosion resistant alloys. He has nine years of foundry experience producing these alloys. He also has experience working with austenitic stainless steel corrosion applications.
AQUEOUS CORROSION; CREVICE CORROSION; INTERGRANULAR CORROSION. Expert has a thorough understanding of the various forms of aqueous corrosion such as crevice, intergranular, pitting, stress corrosion cracking, and uniform corrosion. He understands the mitigation of these types of corrosion.
STAINLESS STEEL CORROSION. With 20 years of experience recommending stainless steels for corrosive applications, Expert is very knowledgeable of this topic and has authored several papers on the application and corrosion resistance of cast stainless steels.
