Expert has 25 years of experience in the design, fabrication, and testing of mechanical systems and devices as related to lasers, fiber optics, and optical instruments. He founded a design company in order to provide services in these areas; his work includes assignments in military as well as commercial applications in the mechanical design, analysis, fabrication, and testing of hardware as related to optical instruments, lasers, and fiber optics.

Throughout Expert's career, he has worked on the mechanical design of virtually every type of optical instrument, including telescopes, microscopes, video systems, photographic systems, radiometers, photometers, laser Doppler velocimeters, imaging systems, spectrophotometers, and several types of interferometers. In addition to designing these instruments, Expert has often been responsible for fabricating and aligning them as well.

Expert has spent a great deal of time on technical project management. He has been responsible for Phase I and Phase II Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Projects, a major laser beam transport system at Vanderbilt University, and numerous projects at Sandia National Laboratories and the Los Alamos National Laboratory. In addition, Expert is currently enrolled in the Executive MBA Program at the University of New Mexico where he is concentrating on technology management.


Expert has participated in the development of many high technology hardware projects ranging from one-of-a-kind research instruments to industrial products produced in the thousands. Through these projects, Expert has gained experience in technology transfer, technology commercialization, patenting, acquisitions, training, and many other technology management-related areas.
