CONCURRENT ENGINEERING. Expert has expertise and thorough knowledge of the many different tools, techniques, and applications of concurrent engineering. He has written two books and numerous articles on the subject, consulted with many companies, and taught thousands of engineers worldwide on the issues of accelerating new product and process creation. He uses the case study methods of demonstrating the tools and their applications, including quality function deployment (QFD), design for manufacturing (DFM), process capability studies, structured analysis tools, theories of product design optimization, concurrent engineering teams, and concurrent project scheduling and management.

ROBUST DESIGN; TAGUCHI METHOD. Expert has used these tools for product and process design and optimization. He has consulted and taught average engineers to use them effectively and with great results through the use of case studies and simple algorithms in order to speed up the results and simplify the analysis. His work has been published widely in journals and industry magazines with application in the electronics, chemical, plastic, medical, and consumer products industries.

TOTAL QUALITY MANAGEMENT (TQM); STATISTICAL QUALITY CONTROL (SQC). Expert has taught, managed, and implemented quality programs for many companies. He has wide experience in designing and evaluating TQM and SQC programs through consulting and his activities with the Massachusetts Quality Award. He uses proven techniques for initiating and nurturing quality programs in industrial companies through many years of experience in industry and academia.

MANUFACTURING AUTOMATION; COMPUTER INTEGRATED MANUFACTURING. Expert has been involved with design, installation, automation, and computer-integrated manufacturing, especially in the areas of electronics fabrication and assembly. His experience includes the design of a $10M modern printed circuit fabrication shop, an award-winning industrial wastewater treatment plant, automated printed circuit board assembly (through-hole and SMT), automatic PCB test systems, automation NC machining and sheet metal punch press installation and CIM connectivity, specialized software CAM package design, and general assembly (manual and robotic) optimization.

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT PROCESS. Expert has recently been involved with identifying the steps in new product creation processes from the market opportunity or innovative idea to the building of production quantities. In his second book, Successful Implementation of Concurrent Engineering, he investigates the successful use of the concurrent engineering tools in new product creation. Expert has also worked with clients nationally and internationally on new product development involving aspects of project management techniques, team-based personnel selection and training, and project interaction and communication.


Expert has consulted in: design process conversion from serial to concurrent and collaborative products, design of experiments on actual products and processes to speed up development, supply chain management for design and manufacturing, the six sigma process and product design.
