BLOOD OXYGENATOR; OXYGEN DELIVERY. Expert has conducted extensive research in modeling, evaluating, and applying intracorporeal and extracorporeal membrane oxygenators. He has used these oxygenators for temporary gas exchange support for acute respiratory failure. Expert has substantial knowledge of strategies to reduce the surface area requirements for intracorporeal devices.
CARDIOPULMONARY BYPASS SURGERY; CARDIOVASCULAR SURGERY. Expert has conducted extensive research into the changes of gut blood flow and its role in the development of systemic inflammatory response and multi-organ dysfunction. He is also experienced with creating cardiopulmonary bypass models for device evaluation. He can answer questions on the inotropic effects of hypertonic solutions and the use of blood substitutes in aortic occlusion.
ANIMAL RESEARCH; ANIMAL MODEL DEVELOPMENT. Having experience with farm animals and their surgery and anatomy in medical research, Expert has substantial experience in creating models for invasive and noninvasive monitoring techniques for surgery, trauma, critical care, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. He also has experience with isolated organ (heart and lung) perfusion studies.
BIOMEDICAL MEMBRANE; EXTRACORPOREAL MEMBRANE OXYGENATION. Expert has worked on the total carbon dioxide removal with low-resistance membrane oxygenators in an arteriovenous shunt. He is familiar with removing circulating heparin following cardiopulmonary bypass surgery with plasma separation and affinity adsorption.
HYPERTHERMIA; HEMOPERFUSION. Expert has recently studied the pathology of whole-body hyperthermia induced by veno-venous perfusion.
