ID: 721986
New York, USA
He developed biological microemulsions by solubilizing high concentrations of lipids (cholesterol and tryglyceride). These formulations were optically-clear solutions, which were used as standards and controls in auto analyzers. He used surfactants to enhance the activity of antibodies in immunoassays. Under Expert’s direction, new surfactants were introduced to enhance the proteolytic enzyme activity for cholesterol/triglyceride reagents. He prepared a liposome formulation using a new surfactant to maintain the integrity of liposome in solutions.
He used surfactant-based formulations to clear lipemic serum samples.
Expert engineered a dry blend formulation for clinical reagents using solid surfactants. He has prepared cleansing solutions for wetting and cleaning surfaces such as glass, Teflon, Tygon, nylon and polymers. An array of surfactants was used to solubilize dyes, drugs and peptides. Expert prepared ancillary reagents using surfactants to maintain the integrity of blood components used in hematology, clinical and immuno-analyzers.
In association with others, Expert developed phase diagrams, theories of stability of emulsions, microemulsions, foams and electrostatic influences on dyes in surfactant solutions. He developed and modified immuno- and clinical reagents.
He has used various techniques, such as contact angles, surface/interfacial tension, viscosity, electrical potential measurement, polarography, IR, HPLC, GC, and gel chromatography to analyze the surfactant solutions.
He is an expert in surfactant applications in clinical, immunological and hematology reagents. He was involved with the development of reagent formulations for use on automated analyzers. A snapshot of some of the important contributions in the use of surfactants in clinical, immuno- and hematology reagents that Expert has made during his 25 years in the field are described below.
The aforementioned projects have benefited by Expert’s involvement due to his broad background of surface active agents in the clinical testing sciences. He possesses exceptional knowledge and skills in the application of surfactants and reagent formulations designed to improve reagent performance, interfacial interactions and system hydraulic performance. By virtue of extending the science of surfactants to practical applications in biological formulations and interfaces, Expert became an individual with unique knowledge and experience. Over the course of his professional career, he has gained significant experience in the troubleshooting of critical problems in clinical science.
In addition to Expert’s technical knowledge in the application of surfactants in clinical reagents, he has extensive experience in control system development. He has developed control systems for clinical chemistry methods, as well as product development requirements (PDRS). He has analyzed R&D method performance data to develop specifications, test methods and shelf life claims. He is familiar with product development under GMP and the PACE® (Product And Cycle-Time Excellence) guidelines.
Expert has devoted his time to working on free T4 immunoassay development using a nonionic surfactant, which resulted in improved precision of an assay for immuno auto-analyzers.He has also researched latex micro-particles immunoassays for TDM- attached antibodies to detect the presence of therapeutic drugs in serum samples. Expert has contributed to work on liposome-based assays suitable for flow systems. He introduced new surfactants to maintain the integrity of liposome in flow systems. He made a significant contribution to the clearing agent for lipemic serum samples -- Expert developed a reagent to improve optical measurement viability. In the area of cholesterol/triglyceride reagents (surfactant-enhanced enzyme), he improved reagents to reduce cost.
