Expert Details
Plant & Warehouse Layout; MRP, ERP, & WMS Selection & Implementation
ID: 722093
California, USA
Expert has had consulting assignments in all areas of the selection and implementation of Material Requirements Planning (MRP), Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRPII), and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems for the past 25 years. His activities have included master scheduling, inventory control, production Control, shipping and receiving, purchasing, order entry, and integrated accounting applications (such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, asset management, and budgeting).
Expert has consulted in all areas of business ethics as part of consulting projects in other functional areas for the past 20 years.
During his consulting career, Expert has been involved in business management, business process re-engineering, organization redesign, and business strategy, almost always in conjunction with an MRP/ERP systems selection and implementation project.
Expert normally combines catastrophic failure project elements, such as disaster recovery, business records management - active and inactive, etc., with all other types of consulting projects. He notes that most corporations can usually use help in this area, but typically do not set up a specific consulting project for this activity.
He has extensive experience in all types of projects to develop the actual cost of manufactured items, both the direct elements (labor and material) and indirect elements (overhead).
Expert typically combines engineering change control and part
numbering system projects with the very comprehensive
MRP/ERP system projects as they usually need revamping
prior to the installation of the MRP/ERP system.
He also combines the elements of engineering economics and
life cycle costing to prove the economic feasibility of certain equipment over other equipment in consulting projects -- typically to add new equipment to a plant layout.
Expert has completed many industrial engineering consulting projects which included a strong understanding of the following activities: time studies; M-T-M; work
measurement; work flow; methods improvements; wage incentive
systems; facilities management; design, planning, and relocation or site selection; as well as office/administration systems in a wide variety of environments.
Over the last 20 years, Expert has designed a significant number of electronic equipment manufacturing plants and medical device manufacturing plants in a variety of environments and configurations, from prototype, pilot plant, all the way to full-scale production.
Expert reviewed, selected and implemented a minicomputer-based MRPII
(Manufacturing Resource Planning) system and developed a Systems and Procedures Manual for all functional departments of Handar, Inc., a Silicon Valley-based electronic equipment manufacturer. He designed the layouts and installed the equipment for raw material and finished goods warehouses for Atari, Inc., a Silicon Valley-based manufacturer of personal computers and video game systems and cartridges. He designed the layout of the electronic equipment manufacturing lines and assisted in the corporate move for 3COM, Inc., a Silicon Valley-based electronic equipment manufacturer. Expert designed the layout to double the size of the manufacturing floor for the production of integrated circuit wafer ovens for Watkins-Johnson, Inc., of Scotts Valley, California. He reviewed and selected five appropriate IBM 390-XX-based MRPII Systems for Caterpillar, Inc., of Peoria, Illinois, a manufacturer of large earthmoving equipment. They then selected the final system to be implemented based on the Expert’s selection evaluation of the five systems.
