Direct reduced iron is the solid state conversion of iron oxide to metallic iron. Expert has been involved in the field of direct reduced iron since 1969 with the commissioning of the first Midrex DR commercial plant operation participating in final construction, preoperational engineering, commissioning and plant operations management on the next plants to be built worldwide. He also has participated in other DR processes development, such as; HYL, Corex, ACCAR, SLRN, KRUPP, FIOR, Iron-Carbide, Midrex RHF, MR&E RHF, INCO RHF, ZIA RHF and project implementation in the same manner and performed consulting services on those processes selection and operational evaluation. Expert has also conducted developmental studies on minerals preparation for direct reduction and steel making with DRI, has patented new technologies in direct reducton, holds patents in direct reduction and materials waste recovery and use and agglomeration technologies and direct steel making. He has also served as a corporate executive in worldwide operations and project and plant management and construction, training and commissioning in these areas and has been responsible for corporate technology transfer development and licensing and legal affairs for construction and operational licenses of technology in the DR field. From project inception, selecting technology or discussing existing uses, his technological base in the field is unsurpassed.
He undertook a position as on-site Project Director, in India, for Krudremukh Iron Ore Company, a government of India company, the modifications, construction and commissioning of an iron ore shaft furnace pelletising plant with only support of local untrained personnel, handling all aspects of engineering, design and project activities.He took on the responsibilities of Project Director for India affairs in project development of introducing iron ore pelletising technology and rotary hearth direct reduction technology for iron ore, including all licensing and technology transfer, project feasability studies, proposals, basic engineering and marketing, establishing presence in India and concluding the project engineering, design, construction and local project activities.He has developed application of technology in the field of iron ore minerals preparation for waste recovery of mill waste for C. Goode enterprises, including methods for waste recovery and essential processes for commercialization and use, both for the US and Australian industries.he has developed methods and processes for use of stainless steelmaking using coal and as-mined nickel laterites, an ongoing investigation, in the US.
