Dr. Gaitan-Gaitan has worked in the agriculture biotechnology field, with an ample experience a s a plant breeder and trait development and introgression scientist. He has worked in this field applying modern concepts to combine with the current agricultural practices in different areas of the Western Hemisphere. He has developed methodologies to test genes under different environmental conditions to assess phenotipic responses. He has also developed processes to combine traditional breeding methodologies with current molecular techniques to incorporate, select and advance genetically engineered traits in plants.

Dr. Gaitan-Gaitan has acquired experience while developing specific methodologies to integrate and select genetically modified traits in plants. He has worked ag traits and PMPs to select high expressing transgenes for further advancement and pilot production. He has authored and coauthored SOPs related to specific processes under lab, greenhouse and field conditions to be executed under cGLP and cGMP. The use of modern techniques to develop these traits within a highly regulated environment, has led to the patenting of such methodologies.
