Peru
In 1974, he received an offer from Petroperu, the national petroleum company, to work in the oil refinery. He was there for three year working as technical engineer in charge of primary distillation and catalytic cracking.
However, at early 1977, DuPont was looking for a young engineer to be in charge of their plastic division. Expert was a good option because of his solid bases in petrochemicals and also his fluency in English language. He was hired and immediately sent to Chesnut Run laboratories – Delaware, for training in plastic resins and films. Here, he worked for five years, not only handling plastic resins and films but also textile fibers. After taking the sales of these products to higher levels, he resigned and started his own company to perform as specialized agent for overseas companies.
He represented to:
Klockner group for the sale of blister PVC films and thermoforming machinery;
Louis Patz - Austria, manufacturer of alu foil lidding films for pharma and food applications;
Masterpak – Mexico in cellophane films;
Radici Films - Italy in BOPP films;
Caffaro Spa – Italy in nylon films;
Toray America in PET films.
In the machinery business, he worked with:
Brampton Engineering - Canada for the sales of blown film coextrusión systems. Here he developed experience in high barrier EVOH films;
Sherman Treaters for the sales of corona treaters;
GN Plastics – Canada for the sale of thermoforming machines. Here he developed experience in PS, PP, PET sheets;
Enercon Industries for the sale of induction sealing machines;
Flexotecnica – Italy, for the sale of flexographic printing machines;
He now is engaged in the consulting and education business. In fact, he teaches the 5 month course of Technology of Packaging and the 3 month course of Technology of Plastics in the Peruvian University Ricardo Palma.
Array
He prepared the first study on the packaging industry in Peru and recommended to establish an R & D Center for this discipline either public or private.He helped to start a flexible packaging business from scratch, preparing technical specification of each piece of equipment, including 5 layer coextrusion line, 8 color flexo printer, solventless laminator, bag making machines, slitter rewinders. He helped to find good sources of supply, assisted in the purchasing, recommended suitable plastics resins, inks and adhesives and later on trained the technical people.He developed an investment project for the installation of a plastic corrugated sheet extrusion plant for asparagus packaging. Is is now in equipment purchasing stage.He is developing an investment project for the installation of biodegradable packaging from sugar cane bagasse. It is now in the market study stage.He is developing an investment project for the installation of film coextrusion starting from recycled HDPE yogurt bottles. It is on market study stage
