Expert has applied his chemical engineering education to the field of nanotechnology by providing regulatory compliance assistance to companies manufacturing and using nanoscale materials. His knowledge and experience with Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) and Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) have benefited many companies through his regulatory knowledge and experience with regulatory officials at the Environmental Protection Agency. Companies manufacturing new chemical substances and antimicrobial agents have benefited greatly from his expertise.

His industrial and regulatory experience has also allowed him to assist companies from a wide variety of industrial sectors by providing strategic planning guidance to allow companies to take advantage of business opportunities created by nanotechnology products. Specific examples of these industrial sectors include chemicals, packaging, food, cleaning products, and environmental services.

Expert’s experience in bringing industry together on common issues has resulted in the formation of two industry groups addressing the regulatory and environmental, health and safety (EHS) aspects of nanotechnology. He is currently Executive Director of the SOCMA Nanotechnology SME Coalition and he was instrumental in the formation of the American Chemistry Council Nanotechnology Panel.

Sharing this knowledge and expertise through workshops and training programs, Expert has conducted public workshops and private training sessions to individual companies providing the latest information on regulatory activities, occupational safety advancements and nanotechnology application developments. His most recent workshop, Nanotechnology: The Future of Regulatory Policy (http://www.nanoregnews.com/workshop_080320.php), brought together leading scientists and government officials to highlight the direction of regulatory policy in the United States. Through conference presentations, commissioned speeches to private industry groups and workshops on the regulatory aspects of nanotechnology, Expert, founder of Employer, has become a recognized international expert and demand for his insight on nanotechnology regulatory issues continues to grow.

In addition to providing professional services to nanotechnology companies and trade groups, He is the publisher of a subscription newsletter providing current information on government regulations and environmental health and safety issues related to the development, production and use of nanoscale materials. Publication of the Employer Report requires a weekly review and analysis of nearly one thousand peer-reviewed journal articles on nanotechnology applications, research and related regulatory, policy, worker safety, environmental and human health issues. He gathers information on new applications of nanoscale materials, new material developments and trends in nanotechnology. He also gathers information by attending national and international nanotechnology conferences and symposia and through interviews with founders of nanotechnology start-ups, scientific experts, government officials, trade associations and nanotechnology investors.
