Expert has been working on optimization models since his PhD. He has applied a hybrid approach of integer linear programming and graph based heuristics to solving problems in logistics (scheduling and routing) as part of his PhD. He has extensively applied modeling optimization to the analaysis of business problems, primarily in the area of supply chain.

Customization of numerical optimization algorithms is his key interest areas. This would include experimenting with ideas in graph theory and integer programming and random search algorithm like genetic algorithms and simulated annealing.

His areas of interest also include other areas in operations research such as uncertainty modeling and probabilistic analysis.

Expert applied the algorithms and models developed as part of his PhD. to optimize the delivery scheduling costs at Mitsubishi's plant at Mizushima Japan. His work was integrated with the company's scheduling and planning system to be used for daily schedulingWhile at SCA Technologies LLC, he was involved in developing a model for McDonalds for optimizing the production costs for one of their product families. This helped McDonalds and their supliers to plan capacity for the future and reduce current production cost.
