Expert has more than 25 years of experience in the treatment of all common psychiatric disorders with psychiatric medications, including major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, panic disorder with and without agoraphobia, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, generalized anxiety, and adjustment reactions. He was trained at McLean Hospital and practiced as an in-patient psychiatrist there for 8 years before focusing more exclusively on out-patient treatment. He has followed the development and approval of new psychotropic medications over that time and has extensive practical experience with both older and newer agents.

His clinical activities clinical activities include solo private practice of psychiatry based in the community of Belmont near McLean Hospital. He has had a general practice involving adults and adolescents with affective and psychotic disorders, as well as OCD, anxiety, adjustment disorders, and occasional couples and family counseling. He has had a large referral base of non-M.D. mental health clinicians and belongs to one managed health care organization. One to three times a month, from 1992 through September of 2000 he as sat on the Community Access Board at the Mass. Treatment Center for the Sexually Dangerous in Bridgewater and reviewed the status of civilly committed inmates who have been convicted of repetitive sexual offenses. Once a month, he has performed court-ordered forensic evaluations at the Waltham Court Clinic, through 2007, as a service to McLean Hospital. Four to eight times a month, he attended the Monday and Friday afternoon drop-in sessions of the Manic-Depressive and Depressive Association (MDDA) at McLean Hospital to act as a consultant resource for those who attend. He has been a tutor in the Fall, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008 Harvard Medical School course at McLean Hospital, Psychopathology and Introduction to Clinical Psychiatry, once a week on Tuesday afternoons.
