His expertise in pharmacology include teaching and presenting the basic principles of pharmacology and therapy to medical students and university students specifically related to drug addiction, understanding and updating current concepts and research in drug abuse, analyzing the relationship between psychopharmacology and aging, assessing and analyzing the concept of dependence particularly regarding drugs and other narcotic substances. He is also a pioneer in developing methods to better understand the field of drug abuse and predicting dependence liability of stimulant and depressant drugs. As a U.S. Public Health Service member, he has also presented clinical aspects of drug addiction in an effort to promote a better understanding of issues related to drug addiction, drug dependency and alcoholism. He has also assisted in the process of classifying opioid agonist and antagonist. He has done several studies to investigate and evaluate the treatment of tobacco smoking and nicotine addiction. He is also involved in educating primary care physicians on practical clinical management regarding drug addiction.
Expert was appointed a consultant by the National Academy of Science, National Research Council on the Committee on Problems of Drug Dependence and the Committee on Evaluation of Narcotic Antagonists between 1971-1978. Expert was appointed a consultant by the American Medical Association Council on Mental Health on the Committee on Drug Dependence from 1974-1975. Expert was appointed a consultant by the World Health Organization Scientific Group on Progress in Methology of Evaluation of Dependence Liability of Drugs in 1974, as well as the World Health Organization Expert Committee to Determine "The Function of WHO under the Convention of Psychotropic Substances" in 1977, and again as an expert consultant by the World Health Organization Expert Committee on Drug Dependence "Review of Psychotropic Substances." Expert was appointed as a medical consultant for the National Football League for 3 years.
