Expert is board certified in internal medicine and pathology with subspecialties in anatomic pathology and clinical pathology. After receiving his M.D. from New York University School of Medicine in 1961, he completed his internship and resident training in general medicine at Bellevue Hospital in 1963. He also completed additional resident and fellowship training in pathology in New York in 1966 at two different hospitals. He obtained and served the position of Chief Resident of Pathology his final year of his residency. He is also certified as a National Board of Medical Examiner and Laboratory Director in the State of New York.
Expert has over 40 years of experience in pathology and internal medicine including multiple clinical research and publications. His training involves a special focus in renal disease, ocular disease, vasculitis, rheumatic diseases, heart disease and environmental disease. His research has focused on glomerulonephritis, immunology, and environmental diseases.
His past research experience and interest has been in the structure-function correlation of human renal disease, the immunologic aspects of glomerular disease in which he established a model of active and passive immune complex injury using dextran and derivatives with monoclonal antibodies to evaluate the role of size, charge, affinity on deposition and response. He is currenlty involved in an ongoing clinical research focusing on immunologic aspects of rheumatic and vasculitic disease as well as environmental/occupational pathology with special interests in metal sensitization (beryllium).
His professional experiences include serving as instructor, professor and chairman of several Pathology departments at various universities and medical schools in New York. His expertise also involves serving on several committees such as the Clinical Practice Management Board, Blood Utilization, Medical Board, Radiation Protection Committee, and the Sensitization Testing Committee. Expert was invited to serve on the various committees based on his knowledge and insights in pathology, on medical industry management and his clinical and laboratory analysis and assessment skills and experience. Expert is also an active commissioned member of the United States Public Health Service, a program comprised of highly trained and qualitified elite professionals dedicated to delivering the United States' public health promotion and disease prevention programs as well as promoting the advancement of public health science.
Among his professional experiences, Expert has also served as an expert witness on cases involving medicolegal and workman’s compensation matters, renal disease, rheumatologic and vasculitic disease, environmental disease (particularly berylliosis, pulmonary toxicology and related immune-mediated processes).
Expert is a registered hybridizer and has experience as a Consulting Rosarian in the American Rose Society [ARS]. He has also been an Emeritus Consultant for the ARS in 1997. Expert is also a Consultant for the NPVAH.
