Expert is board certified in surgical oncology. He received his M.D. degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in 1976 and completed his internship in surgery the same year. He completed his resident training in general surgery in 1981 at Strong Memorial Hospital and additional training in surgical oncology in Texas the following year.

His special interests include benign and malignant breast disease, benign and malignant thyroid and parathyroid disease, malignant melanoma, gastrointestinal malignancy including hepatobiliary pancreatic malignancy and laparoscopic surgery.His current work include analyzing common benign problems including management of gallbladder disease, hernias and benign and malignant tumors of the skin. He has presented several presentations on Asplenic cancer, Metastatic carcinoma of the colon and treatment, sarcoma, breast ultrasound in office settings, and surgical therapy of breast cancer.
