Expert is board certified in Behavioral Neurology and Neuropsychiatry through UCNS and by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Psychiatry and has been additionally certified in Geriatric Psychiatry and Forensic Psychiatry. He also has two overseas specialist qualifications with majors in Psychiatry and Neurology (the Diploma in Psychological Medicine was a registrable specialist qualification in both these specialties). He also practices as a Psychopharmacologist and Neuropharmacologist having authored two books on the subject. There is no board certification in this area that the American Board of Medical Specialties recognizes in its specialties. However, he is a Fellow of the Collegium Internationale Neuropharmacologicum, and member of the American Society for Clinical Psychopharmacology and has DABPS in Psychopharmacology. He is also an Epileptologist (no formal board certification exists but he is a member of the American Epilepsy Society and has presented papers at that congress and at the Epilepsy International Congress and consulted in this area for more than two decades). He is currently director of a neuropsychiatric institute. Prior to that, Expert was the director and founder of a division of neuropsychiatry in a department of psychiatry in the United States.

He has pioneered several major areas including the whole area of anticonvulsant drugs in psychiatry, which has possibly impacted millions. He remains one of the leading psychiatric epileptologists in the world, having even proposed a classification for epilepsy and psychiatry. He performed the only double blind study demonstrating the value of carbamazepine in dyscontrol and psychosis.
His work on the use of high dose buspirone as a successful treatment for tardive dyskinesia has never been refuted, and it remains legitimate promising treatment for the previously incurable condition. He has also developed a classification for grading movement disorders including tardive dyskinesia. He also contributed to finding extended use of azapirones in treating aggression and attention deficit disorder. He has also developed concepts in medical areas such as deinduction, non-vertiginous dizziness, dysproccia, chindling and possible temporal lobe symptoms and has developed concepts in pharmacological areas such as deinduction, non-vertiginous dizziness, and chindling.
Expert is recognized as one of the leading Forensic Specialists in the USA (e.g.. he has been the only expert listed in an issue of Americas Top Doctors in the Western USA (under Psychiatry). His broader forensic specialties mimic his work as a clinician, namely, Neuropsychiatry, Behavioral Neurology, Psychopharmacology, Psychiatry and Epileptology. Prof. Expert is primarily a clinician with significant expertise in the medicolegal sphere. He, at this stage, consults as a medicolegal expert in the civil and competency (non-criminal) arenas. He gives expert opinions to both plaintiffs and defendants. He has been consulted both within and outside the United States. In the USA, he is consulted nationally, in all regions of the country. He has had extensive deposition and court experience, and is also used, at times, as a consultant on complex cases. He uses his public speaking experience at clarifying issues for juries, as well as communicating directly with arbitration judges. When retained early in a case, he can give insights to retaining counsel. He likes to make suggestions for cross-examinations or discovery depositions on opposition medical experts. He has also been used in rebuttal.
His experience has been very broad including brain injury, effects and side-effects of brain medications and non-prescribed substances, seizures, impaired temporal lobe or frontal lobe functions, dyskinesias, neuroleptic malignant syndrome, competence, dementia, depression, anxiety, psychosis, attention deficits, stress, consciousness, patents and other brain conditions. He has been retained for combinations of these. At times, patients are evaluated extensively medicolegally at the Pacific Neuropsychiatric Institute in Seattle.
Expert has developed several neuropsychiatric measuring instruments and inventories, including computerized applications for clinical use and research evaluating anomalistic psychology and brain function. These assess higher brain function, organic brain impairments and exceptional intelligence. The most prominent of these include a screening cerebral assessment tool, an inventory to assess symptoms of epilepsy and the temporal lobe, a soft organic brain inventory, a narcolepsy questionnaire, as well as a research psychological screening questionnaire. Additionally, he is a pioneer in demonstrating the links of anomalistic psychological experiences with the temporal lobe of the brain. He has also developed a major classification of head injuries and concepts in neuropsychiatric areas such as dysproccia, possible temporal lobe symptoms, paroxysmal neurobehavioral disorder and closed head injury of transient - CHIT (and permanent - CHIP) types.
He has also developed a screening instrument for use in nursing homes to rate problem behaviors, and has served as a professional consultant on the pharmacological aspects of intelligence and memory testing, involving standardization of the latest common IQ and Memory tests (WAIS and WMS). He has pioneered phenomenological detailing in consciousness research. Currently he is studying child prodigies and developing concepts of genius, and has developed a method of assessing exceptional intelligence. He is also the world authority on the deja vu phenomenon. He has pioneered the management of several major medical conditions including two recently described new syndromes.
Expert was chief research consultant to an epilepsy institute in New York and consultant to the American Psychiatric Association's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual.
