Request Expert

Prof Expert is has an extensive experience in research on semiconductor device physics, analysis - and, in particular, modeling. He is considered one of the top scientists in the compact modeling of semiconductor devices. He has been a pioneer in the development of compact models for a number of semiconductor devices, such as submicron bulk MOSFETs, thin film SOI MOSFETs, HEMTs, amorphous and polycristalline silicon Thin Film Transistors (TFTs), organic TFTs and Multi-Gate MOSFETs (Double-Gate MOSFETs, FinFETs, Surrounding Gate MOSFETs, Si nanowires,...). He is one of the authors of the so-called RPI TFT compact models, and the main author of the versions of the RPI models for short-channel TFTs. The RPI models are available in most commercial circuit simulators and design tools; in fact they are the most used models for the design of TFT circuits. He also led the development of the first compact model for organic TFTs (called the UOTFT model) which was implemented in the commercial version of a circuit design package. His compact model for a Fully-Depleted SOI MOSFET was also the first (or at least one of the first) to be implemented in the commercial version of a circuit simulator. Furthermore, in the 90s, he developed the first infinitely continuous explicit charge conserving capacitance and substrate current models for short-channel MOSFETs, and they were soon available in a commercial circuit simulator. Recently, he led the development of the first compact model for an undoped or lightly doped Surrounding Gate MOSFET, and he extended his new modeling principles to other types of Multi-Gate MOSFETs.

Prof. Expert has made more than 80 publications about these topics in international journals, and has also presented more than 70 papers in international conferences (20 of them invited). He has also been invited to conduct lectures in international summer schools and other training events. He has also participated in the organization of several conferences on semiconductor devices, being the chair person of one conference on flexible electronics. He has participated in many European and national funded projects on advanced semiconductor devices and he is the coordinator and leader of one European funded project on compact modeling of advanced semiconductor devices. Eight universities, three private semiconductor foundries and four EDA toll vendors paricipate in this project.

Prof Expert has also acted many times as an expert for the evaluation and review of project proposals submitted to the European Commission and to national research agencies of several countries (US, Spain, Switzerland, The Netherlands, China, Mexico,...). He has been a regular evaluator for the Sixth and Seventh Framework Programme of the European Union.

In December 2005 Prof. Expert worked as a consultant for Pixtronix Inc. (Massachussets, USA). The subject of his consulting work was the TFT models implemented in the HSPICE simulator, of Cadence.
