Expert completed the required study course at Holiday Inn University in 1981 and received his General Manager designation. In 1982, he attained the CHA (Certified Hotel Administrator) degree from the American Hotel & Motel Assn. Expert has continued his education through the years by taking literally hundreds of seminars and CE courses. He has taught and advised at several significant Universities, including, Michigan State Univ., Indiana University & Purdue University at Indianapolis, Penn State University and St. Francis de Salles Univ.
Expert has also found that his hotels are most successful when there is a well managed Tourism Promotion Agency operating locally. He has served on the Board of Directors of the CVBs in four different markets, including three terms as the Chair. Expert also gives his leadership skills to many other Non-Profits in his community.
As the hospitality and tourism world has evolved through the last four decades, Expert has been right in the middle of it. He is poised to provide the type of expertise that will translate into profit for those who call upon his strong work ethics to be a vital part of their hotel project team just as his current partners have.
In 1990, Expert worked as Consultant for a family who owned a major independant Hotel as they designed, constructed and opened their Hampton Inn Hotel in a tertiary market in North Eastern PA. Expert's knowledge of brand requirements and operational design efficiencies saved thousands of dollars for the Project and assured compliance to brand standards.In 1991, Expert worked as Consultant for a start up hotel company to assist in the location and design of a Hampton Inn Hotel in Lancaster, PA. Hotel owners also depended on Expert's industry experience and advise as they created their successful hotel company. Expert was hired as Consultant by a Central Pennsylvania based energy company with dozens of C-Stores/Gas Stations as they aquired their first lodging property, south of State College, PA. His valuable advise led to the successful re-structuring of the management and profitable operations of the hotel and attached restaurant. Expert participated as a member of a "Blue Ribbon Committee" for the community leaders of Erie, PA as they worked to develop an "Action Plan" to strengthen their tourism promotion organization. Nick Scott and other leaders in Erie found Expert's experience and vision to be invaluable as they created a viable collaberation between the local chamber and visitors bureau.In the late 1990s, Expert led the York County Convention & Visitors Bureau, York, PA to development of its first real Brand. "Factory Tour Capitol of the World" has increased York's tourism opportunities. Dick Naylor, owner of Naylor Winery said, "Expert's vision of the Factory Tour Brand for York put us on the map!" York County's tourism product today is $1.3 Billion, and ranks it sixth among PA counties.
