As a teacher he became first a Professor of Anatomy in the Morphological Sciences Department of the Universidad Complutense (Madrid, Spain) and is now an Associate Professor in General Pathology at San Carlos University Hospital.
Expert is a full member of the Spanish Society of Internal Medicine (SEMI) and President of the Scientific Committee of the Madrid’s branch of the Society (SOMIMACA). He has been nominated expert of the European Agency of Drugs, technical adviser of the Spanish Ministry of Health and a member of the Commission for Science and Research of the Madrid’s College of Physicians. He has more than 160 written and oral communications to national and international scientific congresses and more than 50 articles on medical journals.
In the health care management area, Expert. Expert is a founding member of the Spanish Society of Internal Medicine (SEMI) health care management Working Group. As such, he is involved in scientific research on ways of improving medical management and has published several papers on the subject. During his time as head of the Department of Internal Medicine of Hospital de Fuenlabrada (see above) he was in charge of 56 physicians, two big hospital units like Internal Medicine and Emergencies and three other smaller Units. This, together with the fact that this was a new hospital, one of the first truly paper free and completely digitalized centers of the Spanish National Health System, makes the experience unique in the health care management field. Expert. Expert has also done courses in Quality Evaluation (EFQM model) and Telemedicine and Information Systems for Physicians in the Superior School of Telecommunications Engineers in Madrid. He has given some related courses on the subject.
As a medical journalist, Expert. Expert began working in 2001 for the Spanish newspaper El Mundo on its health web http://www.elmundo.es/elmundosalud/index.html. He first started a joint venture with the USA-based web medscape.com. He worked for this communication company until July 2009 and during this time he has written many pieces for the web, provided scientific advice for the editors, contacts within the medical profession and industry and written communications to an international scientific congress on behalf of the newspaper. He was responsible of a monographic web on HIV infection and another on pain with special sections of “Questions to the Expert”. Due to his long career in internet and the fact that he was there practically since the beginning, Expert. Expert has great experience with this media.
As both Spanish to English and English to Spanish translator of biomedical texts, Expert. Expert has extensive experience. His knowledge of the biomedical language guarantees the quality of the translation. He is also editor of the Spanish version of Current Opinion in Cardiovascular Disease.
He was a consultant in the creation process of a new home health care management business.
