Request Expert

Expert is a Member of the International Institute of Marine Surveying (Institut International des Experts Maritmes) with Associations world wide. He is also an Affiliate Member of the Yacht Designers and Surveyors Association (Upgrading shortly), is on the UK Register of Expert Witnesses and a Member of the International Association of Marine Investigators. He is also the Consultant Marine Surveyor to the Lyme Regis Boat Building Academy which has a world wide reputation. He has an association with ther UK Metre Boat Association.

He has had experience in boats of various types all his life. Having been in the legal profession with Maritme clients he now works at his passion, i.e. anything to do with the sea. His experience in the legal profession gives him an advantage in investigative work and report writing as this experience enables him to prepare reports which are in accordance with Court procedures, i.e. CPR 35.

On the practical side Expert by himself has built his own wooden racing dinghy and also his current 30ft sailing yacht both from scratch. He has also built a 28ft yacht from a bare hull. Furthermore, he has been involved in other yacht building and restoration projects and continues to do so.

Expert is also able to provide a full Legal Service.

His work carries him throughout Europe and Easterm Mediterranean, but he is prepared to travel anywhere that may be necessary.

He has been involved not only in Marine Surveying but also in respect to Criminal cases involing maritime issues.

Expert is able to give a good personal service and is excellent at communication and customer/client skills.

Expert was appointed by the court to survey and assess damage to a private yacht in a matrimonial dispute. Expert was instructed by an owner of a sports boat to assess stress cracks apparent in the hull in a dispute with the suppliers. He also advised on and supervised remedial work. Expert was instructed by a Defendant's solicitors in a Crown Court case to advise upon the condition of a yacht involved in a major drug running case. Expert has been instructed by insurers to advise upon the condition of a yacht consequent upon a claim for damage sustained in a Tornado in Portugal.Willaim Expert was instructed to examine and report upon the condition of a motor cruiser damaged by fire in Portugal.
