He successfully contributed to the strategic planning and led the product team from concept through deployment through the Stage Gate process. These products were new to the industry, had different design features, and posed significant challenges with respect to supply chain, new machinery, an aggressive timeline, risk management and product positioning. The successful launches placed the company at a competitive and regulatory advantage.
As Manager of Flavor & Tobacco requirements, he led the effort to create product requirement and process specifications documentations to be in compliance with FDA requirements. This effort required a clear vision and strategy, process mapping, documentation mapping and ease of application of those requirements in manufacturing.
Expert has years of experience in running large projects and programs both in the USA and abroad. He led programs valued at over $100 million spanning over multiple years and multiple countries. Part of running large programs was to constantly appraise and evaluate scenarios as well as options, he also reviewed each project on a regular basis for reporting to senior management and ensuring key strategic goals were met.
As Assistant Director for the Asia Pacific Region, Expert's primary responsibility was to consult with the regional affiliates and licensees to provide operational and project management expertise. The scope of his work ranged from Strategic Project Management to scenario planning, productivity and process improvements, and cost reduction.When the tobacco industry came under FDA regulation, Expert was routinely called upon by Regulatory Affairs, Product Integrity and the Law Department at Altria to provide expertise on product requirements, process specifications and manufacturing capabilities.
