Expert is an ACVP board-certified veterinary pathologist with over 30 years teaching and research experience in veterinary pathology and immunopathology. He has characterized immunodeficiency disorders and resolved infectious diseases in animals, some of which are transmissible to humans. He has used recombinant DNA technology to develop a recombinant protein vaccine for a zoonotic intestinal disease of calves, and to develop internationally-accepted diagnostic tests for infectious diseases of horses. He has served as President of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists and President of the American Association of Veterinary Immunologists. His research has been published in over 140 manuscripts in refereed journals and has resulted in patents. He has served as a faculty member, department head and dean at colleges of veterinary medicine in Washington, North Carolina and Colorado.

He consulted with three biotechnology companies regarding market potential and optimal delivery platform for a recombinant protein vaccine.He consulted with a biotechnology company regarding marketing of a diagnositc service for a genetic disorder of horses.
