Expert has 15 year-experience with each of the following 4 laser types, in particular she has perfected
protocols to accentuate results while
minimizing recovery time.
VBeam® Pulse-Dye Laser: For over 10 years, studies show that pulse-dye technology is most consistently
effective in treating broken facial capillaries of all sizes. We can also treat generalized facial redness caused
by skin conditions such as rosacea, and even chronic redness on the face, neck and chest caused by years
of sun exposure. Best of all, new technological advances with this laser enable us to perform all of these
achievements without the need for bruising, thereby nearly eliminating recovery time.
GentleLase® Alexandrite and GentleYag® Nd: Yag Laser Hair Reduction: These lasers target the pigment in
the hair follicle, reducing dark hair count and caliber in all skin ethnicities. We realize that countless facilities in
South Florida perform laser hair reduction treatments, and we urge you to do your research carefully, realizing
that lower-energy-setting lasers will be less effective, necessitating infinite treatment sessions and perhaps
costing more in the long-term. More importantly, hair reduction lasers can cause burning, pigmentation and
scarring, which may be permanent, if used injudiciously at high settings especially in tanned or dark skin. At
consultation, she can advise you realistically which laser and how many treatments are necessary to meet
your expectations, depending on skin type, sun history, hair density and desired treatment site.
Nd: Yag Laser Tattoo and Brown Spot Removal: This longer wavelength targets medium-to-dark pigment
granules, breaking them into tiny fragments that are then invisible on the skin surface. This treatment is ideal
for sun spots and dark tattoos on lighter skin types. This laser can also be combined with VBeam® laser
treatment to create an all-encompassing skin rejuvenation procedure just like IPL, or intense-pulse-light, which
utilizes a variety of light wavelengths to erase pigmentation of various colors at various skin depths. The
effects of sun and aging differ among individuals, so expert can recommend which laser would best serve you.
Reliant Fraxel® Erbium Fractionated Ablative Laser Technology: The advent of this exciting new technology in
the last 5 years has enabled us to treat acne and other scars, dark undereye circles, enlarged pores and a
number of other textural skin issues much more effectively. This laser induces minimal recovery time, usually
only moderate redness in the treatment area for less than 3 days. This procedure creates thousands of
microscopic “wells” though the top layers of skin, causing new collagen to form and resurface the treated skin.
Because entire layers of epidermis are NOT removed, the collagen regeneration occurs quickly and safely in a
variety of skin types. Expert has improved fractional resurfacing laser energy protocols, most importantly
delivering surgical-type eyelid rejuvenation with minimal recovery.
Ulthera® Laser Treatment: The Ulthera® ultrasound laser is rapidly becoming the gold standard treatment for
lifting and tightening mild/moderate skin/fat sagging of the face and neck. Anyone who has been pregnant or
had any internal issue knows that ultrasound waves have been used safely, painlessly and effectively to
image and diagnose a variety of normal and abnormal medical issues. Ultrasound devices which penetrate into
internal organs such as the uterus, kidneys and heart have been proven safe and effective for 50 years. The
Ulthera® laser harnesses the power of ultrasound waves delivered at a very precise depth of deep (dermal)
skin and subcutaneous fat to tighten the fibrous connective
Since their approval in the last 3 years the hyaluronic acid filler Restylane®. Perlane® and Juvederm® have replaced bovine collagen as the most popular filling agent in the United States. They have already enjoyed widespread popularity in Europe and South America for over 15 years. Hyaluronic acid is a natural component of the matrix surrounding skin cells, just as collagen. However, the hyaluronic acid injectable fillers are synthetic and manufactured from non-allergenic substances and carry an even better safety record than collagen after years of use around the world. The hyaluronic acid-based substances carry such a low incidence of allergic reactions that skin testing before treatment is not necessary, so that patients can obtain the enhancement anytime, without prior planning. Transient local side effects, such as bruising and swelling, are similar to those of collagen. Since these substances do not have any anesthetic in their formulation, topical anesthetic cream prior to treatment is advised. In addition, she can perform dental nerve blocks for complete anesthesia of the lips and the deep grooves around the nose. However most of her patients do not find this necessary.
At the Expert's Firm, she has found that with her injection technique, all of these fillers generally last 2-3 times longer than collagen! Expert has found Restylane®,Perlane,®and Juvederm® to be most useful for superficial “etched” lines in the skin, such as “smokers lines” (around the mouth), lip augmentation, lifting the corners of a “drooping” mouth, and isolated indented scars (such as from chicken pox or single large pimples). She can discuss the nuances of each filler and which one is most appropriate for any given cosmetic issue. The FDA approved Sculptra® a polylactic acid (an ingredient in most dissolvable sutures) gel to fill in large volumes, such as deep frown and smile lines and hollowed cheeks and hands. Sculptra®, has also been used successfully throughout Europe for over 10 years, and carries with it a long safety record via its use in medical sutures. It is also inert, so skin testing is not necessary prior to therapy. Treatment protocols typically involve 2-3 injection sessions every 3-6 months, followed by long-lasting results—up to 18 months in some European studies. Topical anesthetic cream applied for 20-30 minutes is also used before Sculptra® injections, to minimize pain. Transient local side effects, such as bruising and swelling, are similar to hyaluronic acid injections as well. She spent time training other physicians nationally in Sculptra® injections and therefore has a wealth of experiencing injecting the product. In, addition, she has a special interest in treating new areas previously only helped by costly and invasive plastic surgery, such as under eye sagging/ hollowing/ jawline sagging/ hands/ deeply indented surgical scars and tissue loss from chronic injections, such as insulin. She can discuss which filling substance is most appropriate, depending on individual anatomy and lifestyle. The evolution of injectable fillers is one of the fastest growing segments of the cosmetic dermatology market, providing a less invasive and cost-effective way to postpone, or hopefully, avoid a facelift altogether! Most recently, Expert has culled her 15-year experience with the dermal fillers above to specialize in facial feature shaping in addition to rejuvenation, made popular by the 2013 FDA approval of the cheek-enhancer Juvederm Voluma®
