Wireless Product Development
ID: 730698
Canada
His experience is largely in ground-up design where user and technical requirements are translated from paper into working products. Design of such systems has sometimes required radio propagation testing to determine the propagation environment and usually required the development of radio link budgets in order to determine the appropriate modulation, access techniques, error control, RF power, receiver performance, antenna requirements and other key technical parameters.
Expert also has extensive experience in creating system requirements and design specifications having written several for the systems he has led the creation of, as well as for other clients.
Expert was part of the team of consultants that designed a digital upgrade to a commercial air-to-ground communication system that was deployed on 1500 aircraft. In addition to leading the system specification team he was the project manager for the development for an experimental modem, which advanced the state of the art in aeronautical mobile communications achieving high spectral efficiency.Expert consulted to a wireless bypass access provider in the creation of engineering guidelines for operation in the 40 GHz radio band. The work items to create these guidelines included link budget analysis, interference analysis, test lab creation and scenario evaluations.Expert consulted in a business development capacity in the industrial communications area. His proposals landed consulting work for his client from a branch of the US government and a large oil company.Expert was part of the management team for an international technology transfer project. His duties included design and management responsibility for all hardware components of a VSAT system, including modem, RF, baseband, interfacility communications, and microwave. He also provided system design training to a team of 50 engineers.
