Expert has worked in the field of corrections for 40 years. His career began with his role as a Correctional Officer in Philadelphia, after which time hew worked his way up through the ranks to Deputy Warden.

While working in Philadelphia, Expert also served as the Director of the Philadelphia Prisons Training Academy. In 2018, he relocated to Maryland and has been the Warden of Baltimore Central Booking for over four years.
